Siddhas are with us ...! Chapter - 12, kalyanamalaimagazine

One day, it happened at noon. It was very hot outside. An elderly man, who wanted to take some rest lied down at the mound of the old lady’s house outside. When the old lady opened the door, she recognized him as a Siddha. She didn’t want to disturb him. In her desire to feed the Siddha, she prepared some food. When she brought the food to the door, the Siddha was not there. She left the food on the mound with the strong belief that he would definitely return and eat the food. When she opened the door two hours later, she was surprised that the food had been eaten and the mound had been cleaned with water. She was very happy to feel that the Siddha had taken her food which she prepared with lot of respect and love for him. She prayed that the Siddha should come and eat daily the food prepared by her. The Siddha granted her prayer. For four consecutive days, the food was taken and the mound appeared cleaned with water!

When the old lady told her neighbors about the Siddha, nobody was inclined to believe. They ridiculed her telling that some beggar was fooling her. The old lady felt humiliated. She sat and prayed before the pictures of the Siddhas. She prayed that the Siddha, who was eating her food daily, should come and eat in the presence of her people and she vowed to die of hunger if her prayer was not answered. She then prepared and left the food on the mound. But, this time, she didn’t close the door. All her neighbors waited near her house to see the miraculous event. Time passed by. Then there came two dogs running and one of them climbed onto the mound and ate the food holding the plantain leaf on which the food had been served with its forelegs exactly like humans! The people assembled there were surprised. When the first dog finished, the other one climbed onto the mound. It seized the leaf with its mouth and threw it onto the street end. Then, it turned down the container filled with water and cleaned the place with its tongue! All were surprised. Then, suddenly, the two dogs became one and ran away and disappeared.

The neighbors laughed at the old lady for having believed that a Siddha was taking her food daily. The old lady, who couldn’t bear the humiliation, cried loudly closing her face. Suddenly, Bhairava appeared there. He lifted the old lady’s face with his hands and told, “I am Bhairava Siddha. My helper came now as dog. I came that day as an elderly man. I did all that just to test you.” He then disappeared instantly.

This incident took place at a place at the bottom of Chaturgiri hills some 25 years ago. Even today, some of the people who were witnesses to this incident are alive and are living there. To whomsoever Siddha we pray, our prayers will be granted. It all depends on our faith and intensity. We can relate our problems to the Siddhas, they’ll surely help us.
