Siddhas are with us ...! Chapter - 13, kalyanamalaimagazine

That young farmer must be around thirty-two years. He had been married for four years but still had no issue. He owned a farm at a hamlet at the base of the Velliyangiri hills. One day, suddenly, he felt suffocated, his eyes seemed pressed out. His wife was bewildered as there was no medical facility. She felt helpless. But she remembered Vedachala siddha about whom she had heard a lot. She had not seen him in person till then. She had heard people telling that the siddha was all powerful and that he could even revive a dead person. She prayed to him, pleading him to save the life of her husband. One and a half hours passed by. A middle aged person, wearing a dhoti and sporting a beard and moustache came to her hut. He asked for some biksha. The woman felt something very divine about that person. But she was not in a position to offer him anything. She cried and told him about the pitiable condition of her husband. The stranger entered the hut and carried the woman’s husband on his shoulder. Also, he said, “Your husband will be all right in a few hours. I am taking him to Velliyangiri hills. You can also come along with me.” When the woman prayed to the Vedachala siddha to save her husband, the stranger asked her whether she knew the siddha. When she replied in the negative, he asked her how she was praying to him when she didn’t know him. To this, the woman replied that she had full faith in him because she had heard a lot about him.

Then both reached the top of the hill along with the sick man. On reaching a particular spot, the stranger made the sick man lie on the ground and made him inhale the scent of a particular herb which he held close to his nose. After half an hour, the farmer opened his eyes. The woman was surprised at the miracle. She fell at the feet of the stranger but when she raised her eyes to pay obeisance, the stranger had disappeared! But she heard someone uttering the word Velliyangiri as though someone passed by. And, she heard someone calling ‘Vedachala’. She learned through the voice from the sky that it was Velliyangiri Vedachala siddha who came to her hut and who saved her husband from death. Even today, she is telling everyone that while God would come to our rescue only after long-hours of prayer, siddhas would come to our help immediately if we pray to them earnestly even for a minute!

Siddhas are the representatives of God and they are with us even today to help us. Velliyangiri siddha is one such siddha who has substantiated the above belief. Let us worship siddhas, let us attain a prosperous life!
