The king was amazed when the siddha created heaps of gold coins on the ground

It is a wrong notion to believe that Siddhas were among us only in ancient times. The fact is that they are with us even today, helping us in many ways even without our being aware of it. In fact the numerical strength of the Siddhas has multiplied today. Sivalingeswara Siddha is one among such Siddhas.

A poor boy was a staunch devotee of Lord Siva even from his childhood days. He was not interested in studies or agriculture, his father’s occupation. He left his house and entered a dense forest. Surprisingly, no wild animal in the forest tried to harm him; they kept themselves at a distance. The boy started meditating sitting under a tree. Lord Siva, impressed with the boy’s devotion, assumed the form of a sage and found out the boy’s wish and blessed him with a Sivalinga and ordained him with Sivadeeksha. The boy became Sivalingeswara Siddha from that moment onwards.

The king Aurangazeb wanted to test the genuineness of Sivalingeswara. He came to the Siddha not as the king but in some other get-up. He asked him to perform a miracle in his presence and promised thousand gold coins if he successfully accomplished the task. When the Siddha addressed him as “King Aurangazeb”, the king was shocked. The Siddha refused the offer but still wanted to show the king the greatness of Lord Siva. He raised both his hands towards the sky and prayed. The next moment, heavy rains, not seen in the past thirty-one years, started pouring! All the dried fields became green in just one hour! Birds started flying chirping happily! Breeze started flowing softly! The king was spellbound. He apologized and admitted that he had realized the worth of the Siddha. Sivalingeswara Siddha further surprised the king by creating heaps of gold coins on the earth. Aurangazeb then provided him all the conveniences. Even today, the place is being preserved as a tourist spot.

Sivalingeswara Siddha had disappeared and reappeared from the caves periodically. He had solved the problems of many. His service to humanity is really very great. If we pray to him and seek his help, he would definitely come to our rescue. Assuming any form, he would show us the correct path. Many such incidents are reported even today from Gulburga in Karnataka. He is considered an amsam of Lord Siva. Siddhas are with us even today. We can have darshan of any Siddha if we pray to them earnestly.
