Potpourri of titbits about Tamil cinema - J. Jayalalitha
Ammu scored very good marks in the Banaras Matric Examination and received scholarship for her higher studies. She even joined a college and attended it for two days. The biggest turning point in her cinematic career happened then.
Writer, director, Thiru Sridhar invited Ammu to act in his planned new Tamil film. Her acting in the Kanada film of Thiru Panthulu impressed him. Again I was in a dilemma, whether to let Ammu to act in films or allow her to continue her graduation. I consulted my well wishers, friends and family members for their idea. I was facing a very critical situation to decide on the education or acting career of Ammu.
At home, my father objected to Ammu's acting in films by discontinuing the education. He questioned me stating already you and your sister (Vidyavathi) are in cinema and why do you want Ammu also in it. But I don't want the opportunity that came on its own to slip away from our hand and permitted Ammu to act in films.
In fact Ammu never went after the opportunities and only the opportunities were following her all the time. Actually neither me nor Ammu were interested in her acting in films. Ammu was very much interested only to continue her graduation. In spite of her not taking any interest or efforts to join cinema she has entered into cinema. I can only say that it is her strong fate that drove her into cinema.
My earnest desire is that my daughter should become the world famous with her acting capabilities.
