To find out the fact of this truth, you can get up from bed at 10 on a Sunday. Watch the day. Find out for yourself whether you feel brisk and fresh. Watch whether you are able to do your daily chores in the normal way of doing things. You’ll find yourself easily irritable. If you try to divert yourself by watching television, you’ll only grow more irritable and annoyed, not finding any good program. Your anger will manifest itself in different forms making you show it on your family. At the end, you might feel that it would be less annoying to attend the office even on Sundays rather than resting at home! The next Sunday, get up at 6 or earlier. Go for a walk on the beach, do exercise for a few minutes and drink tender coconut milk. Rest near the Gandhi statue for a while and plan your tasks to be done. Then, have a nice breakfast. Look at the clock. You’ll be surprised to see it showing the time as just 8.30.! You’ll wish to spend some time with your family and do things for them!

I used to get up at 4 O’clock in the morning. When the alarm gives out the ring you would feel like putting it off and continue in bed. But if you really keep telling yourself that you don’t want to miss a bright day, you can really get up at the call of the alarm. The mental ‘struggle’ would be only momentary. If you are determined to get up, you would never think back! If you are having a mechanical life, you would naturally feel like taking more rest on holidays. But you shouldn’t make it a habit. Getting up late in the morning is not good for health. We used to tell children that they should fully concentrate while studying and shouldn’t allow their mind to divert. The same logic would work here also. Do not get tensed up over the need of rising early; instead, tune your mind to look forward to a beautiful day that would start with your early ‘rising’! Acquiring the habit might look rigorous in the beginning but the benefits it gives are well worth the austere effort. We’ve to desire to change. Treat every day as your birthday! Happy day!
